The actin filaments in striated muscle of cytoskeleton are differentiated into myofibrils. In striated muscle Actin and myosin filaments organize together to form sarcomeres and to generate contractile forces. This antibody is specific for alpha isoform of skeletal and cardiac muscle actin. The mechanisms of assembly and maintenance of sarcomeric actin filaments in striated muscle are not completely understood. It does not crossreact with alpha isoform of smooth muscle actin. This antibody shows wide cross reactivity to other animal species including sheep, rabbit, guinea pig, rat, frog and snake.
