Anti-NGF Receptor


NGFR (Nerve Growth Factor Receptor), also termed p75 or CD271, is the low-affinity NGFR (LNGFR) is expressed in neuronal cells or cells, tissues of neuronal origin, it binds with low-affinity to NGF and other factors like BDNF, NT3 and NT4/5. Recent studies reported that NGFR is also found to be expressed in lymphoid dendritic cells myoepithelial cells, basal-like cells, melanocytes, perivascular cells. NGFR is also expressed tumor derivatives such as neurobastomas, pheochromocytomas, neurofibromas melanomas and neurotized nevi (Type C Melanocytes). Studies in Prostate and Urothelial cancer indicated that NGFR is a tumor suppressor, down regulating cell growth and proliferation that concludes NGFR expression is not limited to the nervous system. Anti NGFR antibodies labels the myoepithelial cells of breast ducts and intralobular fibroblasts of breast ducts and thus aids in the diagnosis of malignancy in the breast?
