Myogenic factor 4(Myf4) are muscle specific basic-helix-loop-helix (HLH) structure transcription factors consisting of an amino acid-rich region, myogenic factors promote development of muscle and by transactivation of muscle specific genes. Myf4, is a key transcription regulatory factors, that is crucial for differentiation and commitment of embryonic mesenchymal cells into skeletal muscle. Myf4 expression of is specific to embryonic skeletal muscle cells, but undetected in adult skeletal muscles. Myf4 is considered as extremely specific marker for diagnosing rhabdomyosarcomas
