Anti-Multi-Drug Resistance Marker (P-Glycoprotein)
SKU: AM391GP Categories: , ,

Multi-drug resistance marker (P-glycoprotein) is a cell membrane protein marker of 170 kDa molecular weight expressed by multidrug resistance gene, MDR-1 . Studies have shown that the P-glycoprotein is responsible for resistance to a broad range of chemotherapeutic agents. P-glycoprotein in association with an afflux pump that actively pumps out the from the cell, it leads to drug resistance to a variety of chemotherapeutic agents. P-glycoprotein is not exclusive to malignant cells, it is also found expressed on most normal tissues, indicating the key role for this protein is in normal secretion of physiological metabolites. Tumor cell lines with multi-drug resistance show prominent levels of P-glycoprotein. ?Studies have reported that cancer cells with weak drug resistant showed cytoplasmic immunoreactivity for P-glycoprotein, whereas in highly drug resistant cell lines, plasma membrane immunoreactivity was observed?
