MUC-2 is glycoprotein of molecular weight 520-kD expressed in gastrointestinal tract of normal and carcinogenic colon. MUC-2 has a core tandem repeat sequence of 23 amino acids. Muc-2 glycoprotein expression has been reported in mucinous tumors but it is absent in serous tumors. This antibody reacts with Mucin-2 (MUC-2) protein, amino acid sequence GTQTP and does not react with MUC-1, MUC-3, or human milk fat globule membranes.
