Human Growth Hormone (hGH, somatotropin) has molecular weight of 22 kDa, is the primarily responsible for regulation of body growth and organic metabolism. The anterior pituitary gland is main site of the hGH production. It is chiefly produced by acidophilic or somatotropic cells of the anterior pituitary gland. GH stimulates growth indirectly by promoting the liver?s production of somatomedins in response to stimulation, which act directly on bone and soft tissue to cause growth.
