Anti- Heptocyte Specific Antigen
Heptocyte Specific Antigen (HepPar-1) is a mitochondrial urea cycle associated antigen expressed predominantly in normal Heptocytes and Heptocellular neoplasms. The antigen is localized mainly within the cytoplasm of Heptocytes, producing a characteristic granular cytoplasmic staining pattern. HepPar-1 is widely used as an immunohistochemical marker in diagnostic pathology for the identification of Heptocellular differentiation and for the differential diagnosis of primary Heptocellular carcinoma from metastatic carcinomas and other Heptic lesions.HepPar-1 expression is typically observed in normal liver tissue, Heptocellular adenomas, and Heptocellular carcinomas, while most non-Heptic tumors are negative.
