CEACAM1 (Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule also known as biliary glycoprotein?and?CD66a?is a trans-membrane multifunctional cell adhesion molecule and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. CEACAM1 is broadly expressed in many epithelial, endothelial, and hematopoietic cells such as monocytes and natural killer cells and has been shown to play a role in multiple cellular activities including differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and the modulation of innate and adaptive immune responses. CEACAM1 is important to tumor development and altered CEACAM1 expression has been reported in many cancers including metastatic melanoma, osteosarcoma and lung cancer.
