SKU: AN733GP Categories: , ,

Thy-1 or CD90 (Cluster of Differentiation 90) is a 25-35 kDa heavily N-glycosylated, glycophophatidylinositol (GPI) anchored conserved cell surface protein with a single V-like immunoglobulin domain originally discovered as thymocyte antigen. CD90 is expressed on thymocytes, neurons, glial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, fetal liver cells and hemotopoietic stem cells in normal bone marrow and cord blood. CD90 is known to bind to integrins ?2, ?5, ?3, the latter often accompanied by additional binding to syndecan4. In the postnatal nervous system, this inhibits neurite outgrowth while stabilizing newly formed axonal networks. In the vascular system, CD90 mediates the extravasation of leukocytes. And in lung, a CD90:?v ?5 interaction inhibits the extracellular activation of latent TGF?. Thy-1 has been used as a marker for a variety of stem cells and for the axonal processes of mature neurons. In prostate cancer, CD90 has been reported to be overexpressed in cancer associated fibroblasts and serves as a marker for prostate cancer associated stroma
