Anti-CD68
CD68 is a heavily glycosylated type I transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the CD68 gene and belongs to the lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein (LAMP) family. It is predominantly expressed in monocytes, tissue macrophages, histiocytes, Kupffer cells, osteoclasts, and, to a lesser extent, dendritic cells and granulocytes. CD68 functions in phagocytosis, lysosomal metabolism, antigen processing, and intracellular scavenging activities. Due to its strong expression in cells of monocyte/macrophage lineage, CD68 is widely used as an immunohistochemical marker for identifying macrophages, histiocytic lesions, acute myeloid leukemias, and various inflammatory and neoplastic conditions in diagnostic pathology.
