In 1991, BioGenex acquired American Bionetics (ABN) and turned their DNA/RNA reagent business into a profitable venture within six months. Since then, the company has launched a series of automated staining systems and a full suite of innovative histology products.

Krishan L. Kalra, Ph.D.
CEO and Founder
Dr. Kalra is the CEO and Founder of BioGenex and has more than 30 years of experience in organizational leadership, business management and technology innovation. He was a senior management executive at Abbott and Bio-Rad before founding BioGenex. A scientist at heart, Dr. Kalra is the author of numerous scientific publications and the inventor of over 50 US and foreign patents in the field of automated systems, biological tools for translational and clinical research and molecular diagnostics. He was also a Scientific Officer and an Assistant Professor at the University of Rajasthan. As a business leader, he was a founding member and the first globalization chair of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) in which he currently serves as a charter member. He has also served its Board of Trustees for three additional years. Dr. Kalra received his M.S. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Rajasthan and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Kothari is an engineering professional with over 25 years of industry experience in the clinical diagnostics, life sciences CRO and molecular diagnostics areas and has held leadership roles across manufacturing, quality management, quality assurance and regulatory affairs. Prior to his current role, he was the Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at BioGenex where he has brought a strong focus on science-based quality, manufacturing and operational excellence ultimately aimed at delivering quality products and services to our customers. He was also a Deputy General Manager in Quality Assurance (QA) at Transasia Biomedicals Ltd and a Senior Manager in QA at TATA Consultancy Services. Mr. Kothari has a natural flair with people and cares about employee development, team building and workplace structure for his colleagues. He received his B.E. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from SGGS College of Engineering and Technology.

- Analyze the market and current technologies in the field of clinical and molecular pathology to develop and implement key business plan.
- Lead sales activities on molecular pathology products and instruments.
- Analyze and prepare sales forecast, business reviews and CRM execution to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Achieve sales quotas of automated systems and reagents used for cancer detection and diagnosis to hospitals, bio pharma and research labs.
- Develop monthly funnel activity for all instrument systems. Set expectation with team members to meet and achieve goals.
- Conduct Technical presentations before the scientific team to promote and the sale of high end automated systems for cancer detection.
- Pre and post sales demonstration of BioGenex automated system and training the end user including pathologist, scientist and lab manager.
- Automate new assays and protocols including Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Insitu Hybridization (ISH), Fluorescent in situ Hybridization (FISH), microRNA ISH to help in early cancer detection by collaboration with universities and research centers results in brand promotion and revenue generation.
- Training field sales and application specialist in new opportunity creation, selling, demonstrations, territory management, product installations, training & troubleshooting.
